Better date in GEM or finer, 1880 $1 is a conditional rarity Philly mint Silver Dollar. At the MS65 Gem level, finding an eye appealing example void of bag marks and CAC approval proves difficult. The present example has no detracting marks save for a few minute hits. This Morgan Dollar features smooth blues and light purples over both the obverse and the reverse, with nice luster shining throughout. Not only is this Blueberry toner fully dual-sided, it is also an 1880-P which is a much tougher date to find with attractive color compared to an 1880-S, for instance. This coin is very similar (some may argue even more colorful) compared to the Sunnywood-Simpson example which brought over $4,000 in 2014 despite being only a single grade higher. This present 80-P is a great example and a real bargain for how challenging it is to find a beautiful toner for this date.
