1864-L 1C MS64 BN PCGS CAC EEPS

The 1864 Indian Head cent featuring the "L" on the ribbon is one of the most celebrated and sought-after varieties in U.S. cent history. Introduced late in the year, this variety marked the debut of designer James Longacre's initials on the obverse ribbon, a detail that remained through the end of the series in 1909. The obverse dazzles with a golden-bronze base tone enhanced by iridescent highlights of green, blue and orange. No relevant comp is seen, though a non-CAC and non-toned example most recently sold for $930 01/25 HA and prior $900 07/24 HA. Considering the Eagle Eye Photo Seal, CAC, Toning, date and modest premium, we find this example recommended.
