1845 $5 MS62 PCGS CAC

Only 300 examples are estimated to exist today in all grades with approximately 25 estimated in UNC. Despite being relatively affordable and available up until AU, 1845 Half Eagles become exceptionally difficult to obtain Mint examples with choice surface. At MS62 CAC there has not been a sale for the past 10 years, when an NGC CAC sold in 2013. More recently a lower grade, MS61 PCGS CAC example sold for $4,900 12/22 DL, considering this example a grade higher with CAC approval we find this example worthy of a purchase. The present example is quite frankly superior to most other example we have seen even in MS63. With exceptional eye appeal, no mark or hits and bountiful luster, we are surprised this wasn't graded MS63. Most interestingly, this coin has clear proof-like surface. The quality speaks for itself and the rarity is indicated by how none has sold. Exceptionally well struck, we do not mind looking at this for days.
