Legend is selling an untoned one currently bidding at $2,500 with a few days left. “Dominant charcoal-russet and pinkish-gray patina is backlit by vivid blue, pink and apricot iridescence. The reverse is the lighter of the two sides, but both are equally well preserved with full vibrancy to the finish. This pre-Civil War date was struck in limited numbers in Proof as a mere 1,000 are noted for the year. This is one of the finer examples today and offers both quality and eye appeal for the date or type numismatist.”
