This strong mintmark coin displays a bold wire rim along the right obverse border -- diagnostic of genuine coins. Although the 1911-D quarter eagle is plentiful in AU condition, few AU55 pieces are CAC endorsed. This Indian Quarter Eagle has the lowest mintage of 55,600 for the entire series and is one of the most popular 20th century gold pieces. This example has well-detailed devices and pleasing olive-gold and peach coloration. Slight high-point wear is visible only with a loupe. Last pcgs cac sold back in 2014 for $4,994 whilst ngc at $5,175 in 2011.
