Liberty Head Half Eagle
From a paltry mintage of 108 with no more than 80 known in all grades today, we are proud to offer this spectacular circulated proof liberty half eagle in an OGH. 1905 $5 is known to specialist as one of the rarer dates in the series as it has one of the lowest mintages in the 20th century as well as one of the lowest number of survivors. This coin, nonetheless, is perhaps even more interesting having first sold in 2004 for $2,300 at Goldberg Auction then in 2006 for $2,070 as part of the Wasatch Collection. This coin had slipped briefly into circulation before an astute collector saved it. With a PCGS Pop 1 and a Price Guide of $3,600 and no auction since 2006, offered now for a collector that would have to pay 4 or 5 times for such dates.
