1895 $2.5 MS64 OGH PCGS CAC
1895 $2.5 MS64 OGH PCGS CAC
Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Unbeknownst to most, 1895 $2.5 wrongly has been grouped with quarter eagles at the turn of the century, where mintage for some are as high as a quarter of a million. 1895 $2.5 has a mintage of 6,000 with about 250 uncirculated examples in all conditions. The present example slabbed in an OGH MS64 and approved by CAC is nothing from a common 1907 $2.5. PCGS shows 39 grading events with only 8 cac approved examples for both NGC and PCGS MS64. With A CAC value of $2,500 and a non-ogh cac approved example that sold for $2,233 09/2021, this example has booming luster over fully-struck devices. This coin has subtle salmon-pink hues over between the devices, and one would not be surprised to see this in a MS65 holder. An NGC non-cac recently sold 10/2021 at HA for $3,840.
