1879-S $2.5 AU58 NGC CAC

Attractive colors on this last year San Francisco issue. This interesting date with a price guide of $1,100 at au58 has a lot going for it. A pop 2 at CAC for au58, pop 4 at PCGS and only 3 CAC examples certified finer ( 1 in ms62 and 2 in ms64) Clearly a very under-rated issue, commonly assumed as a generic date. The only finer CAC is the MS62 which sold 01/2021 for $9,600. Aside from that this coin is the most reasonable, with soft tan toning over gold colors.
