The 1873 Indian Head Cent Snow-1 Doubled Die Obverse stands as the premier variety of the entire series, collected with the same enthusiasm reserved for iconic issues such as the 1916 doubled die Buffalo nickel or the 1955 doubled die Lincoln cent. This near-Gem Mint State example immediately showcases the dramatic spread that defines the variety, with bold doubling visible across LIBERTY, the eye, nose, lips, and much of Liberty’s portrait. Rich original mint color remains highly attractive, with the majority of the surfaces retaining vibrant copper-orange brilliance that is beautifully complemented by deep central violet and iridescent auburn toning. Both sides are sharply struck overall with full feathers. Price Guide of $23,500 PCGS and $20,000 CAC though the last CAC example sold for a cheap $16,800 12/23 HA, whilst a nicer example sold for $25,200 02/23 HA. With only 1 CAC finer which Paradime was pleased to have just sold this year a 1873 1C DOUBLED LIBERTY MS65 PCGS CAC, safe to say you most certainly wont find a better example.
