1866 $1 MOTTO PR64 PCGS CAC

First year issue of both proof and business strike for the With Motto issue, 1866 $1 has always been popular from the 725 original mintage. Unfortunately like $20 Saints, these $1 proof with motto are incredibly tough to find with original, uncleaned surfaces, as such, a two-tier market exists for CAC examples. Last PCGS CAC sale was for $7,050 04/17 HA. With gun-metal over silver grey patina both on the obverse and reverse, this coin is extremely original. A unique-look with slight toning when reflected. A superior example that will please those seeking a rare Seated Proof Dollar. CAC Proof Seated Dollars have sky-rocketed, and would be hard pressed finding one more reasonable, much less a first year issue.
