The eye appeal, color and wear of this coin is text book how we love them crusty, some dirt around the stars and void of any hits or mark worth mentioning. 1854-O $10 with a mintage of 52,500 only 187 Small Date and 137 Large Date have survived, a further testament to its rarity. Which variety is rarer has been long debated by scholars. While most 1854-O $10 are weakly struck and this isn’t perfectly struck, perhaps explaining why the graders mistook wear for strike as seen on the eagles breast and wing tip, most are seen heavily abraded, a trait this coin does not share at all. A coin that will sell quickly.
