Fresh is often used, but this stunning territorial 1854 $20 Kellogg is indeed fresh from a retired doctor's collection out of Florida whom previously purchased this coin from Blanchard in 2007.

1854 $20 Kellogg are rare in all grades. Even in lower conditions these can fetch 5 figures. The offered example, however, is a gem AU slider not only graded AU58+ but it is also cac approved. With no cac sale at au58+ much less any grade surrounding this grade, this is a perfect quality and price point before a marginally finer MS61 CAC which would cost double if ever available. AU58+ without a doubt looks finer than most 61 and this coin not only fails to show any hint of wear, but the color is also unique with stunning tan-red over deep blood crimson seen throughout the obverse and reverse. We would not be surprised to see this coin eventually in a MS61 holder.
