1850-O $2.5 XF40 PCGS CAC
Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
PDC have handled numerous toned gold and have always been a major supporter of them. Original, Toned, CAC gold is by far a very undervalued segment we believe. Seldom, do we have the opportunity to acquire one that is also a rare and better date. This New Orleans $2.5 has an approximate 225 known in all grades. At XF40 no CAC has sold, much less a toned CAC or toned example. "The natural coloration is(typically seen) in medium to deep green-gold. It is not easy to locate a piece that has good color but a few high grade coins are known that exhibit attractive deep shades." As Per Coin Facts, a few attractive deeper shades do exist but are in high grade. This example will not cost you $30,000-$50,000 like the higher graded 1850-O $2.5, but is no doubt as rare and significantly more affordable for such a coin.
