1843-D $2.5 LARGE D XF45 PCGS

Mintage 3537 with only 40 known in all grades! 1843-D $2.5 Large D or Small D are both incredibly rare. Compared to the Small D which has about 300 known in all grades, the Large D is by far more rare in fact 7 times rarer. Despite this, beyond the Dahlonega collectors, the significant seems undervalued. Small D XF45 has a PCGS Price Guide of $3,500, where as XF45 Large $3,750. Nonetheless, as one would except from a 40 known survivor there has never been a PCGS XF45 sale. An NGC XF45 recently sold for $3,240 whilst next grade up a PCGS AU50 for $5,175 07/18. With medium gold-green hues seen through out the obverse and reverse, we thought this looks like an AU50, but we've not sent this in for a regrade. While we do not play the grading game, if this does not sell we will have to give this a shot.
