As David Akers wrote "
This date is rare in all grades, more so than the 1842-O or 1843-O and comparable overall to the 1840,1841 and both varieties of 1842. High grade specimens are extremely rare and the overwhelming majority of known examples are only VF. At the AU level, this date is extremely rare and I have seen only one strictly uncirculated example..." To that we know that thus coin is extremely rare in all grades. The only comp is a XF45 cac that sold $1,300 06/19 when gold was just over $1,300 an ounce. At near $1,900-$2,000 an ounce one has to appreciate the rarity and its true value. In au this coin becomes a high 5 and 6 figure coins. Only 4 cac is known finer while a 175 total coins are known in all grades.
