The 1841-C is among the rarest Charlotte quarter eagles. Its true rarity is compounded by the fact that it is a poorly produced issue on top of how all known examples of this date are heavily abraded, most of which have numerous marks on the rims. This is among the hardest quarter eagles from this mint to find with attractive surface. Since most survivors today have been cleaned, the typical piece shows a washed-out, unnatural coloration. Original coins often have a pronounced orange-gold hue which may be overlaid with rich coppery shadings. Due to heavily abraded surfaces and unappealing coloration, the eye appeal of the typical 1841-C quarter eagle is well below-average. There are only a small number known with good eye appeal and these typically command a strong premium among knowledgeable specialists.

From the only 110 known in all grades and quality( most of which includes cleaned and abraded examples), this VF35 examples stands far and beyond as vastly superior from the select group with original surface. We can see this by the low number of CAC examples and the premiums with which they sell for. Next CAC comp is in XF40 CAC where one sold for $6,600 03/20 nearly three times non-CAC price. The offered example with near-perfect rim, mark-free surface and strong strike is defined and unique by its outstanding deep-molten red toning.
