An extremely tough New Orleans issue with a mintage of just 43,000 pieces, this early O-mint quarter is scarce in any Uncirculated grade and seldom encountered with such strong originality and eye appeal. Both obverse and reverse display smooth, undisturbed surfaces with a pleasing, even blend of silver-gray and soft champagne undertones, accented by subtle peripheral color. Traces of underlying luster remain visible across the fields, lending a gentle, satiny glow to the overall presentation. No doubt in our mind an Uncirculated coin, the overall look is cohesive and highly attractive, with no distracting marks to interrupt the surfaces. This remarkable specimen has earned the Gold CAC designation—an affirmation of quality well beyond the assigned grade—and stands as a premium representative of this early New Orleans Drapery quarter.
