Capped Bust Half Dime
The 1834 Capped Bust Half Dime is an exceptional piece of early American coinage, boasting both historical significance and remarkable visual appeal. With a mintage of 1,480,000, only an estimated 2,250 examples survive today, representing a mere 0.152% of the original production. This particular specimen, certified with a CAC population of just 8 and only 4 finer, stands out for its sharp strike, impeccable preservation, and vibrant toning. The obverse showcases a stunning array of colors, including shades of blue, orange, purple, and gold, transitioning into a golden-brown central tone, whilst the reverse complements this with fiery orange and red hues blending into deep blues and purples. No similarly toned CAC examples has sold; however, a NON-CAC MS66 with similar but perhaps questionable toning sold for $4,560 11/22 ST.
