This 1807 Draped Bust Dime, certified VF20 by PCGS and verified by CAC, represents the final issue of the iconic Draped Bust dime series and marks a significant transition point in early U.S. coinage, preceding the introduction of the Capped Bust design. While no PCGS CAC sale is recorded in VF20, a NGC VF20 CAC sold last year for $2,640 11/24 ST, whilst more recently a lower grade F15 PCGS CAC also sold for $2,640 04/25 HA. Today CAC Price Guide lists at $2,800. The coin presents a softly worn yet sharply defined portrait of Liberty, framed by deep antique gray toning and lighter silver-beige wear across the cheek and high curls. Subtle golden-tan and olive-brown shades occupy the stars and legends, while accents of charcoal and steel-blue deepen the visual dimension near the upper fields. Both sides show honest circulation with no distracting marks, artificial toning, or surface disruptions—hallmarks of an early silver issue that has been carefully preserved. The CAC seal further validates its quality for the assigned grade, a meaningful endorsement in a series where originality can be elusive. With a modest PCGS population in VF20 and a complete absence of CAC-approved examples at this grade level, this example offers an exceptional opportunity for collectors of early federal coinage. Its appeal lies not only in its terminal-year status and aesthetic charm but also in its certification pedigree. Ideal for a high-quality early dime type set, a CAC-focused U.S. cabinet, or any collection emphasizing originality and transitional U.S. mint history.
