The Washington Quarter was introduced in 1932 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of George Washington. This CACG graded 1954 Washington Quarter in MS68 stands out as exceptionally preserved. Unlike its close counterparts, it distinguishes itself by the absence of marks. In a year where higher-end coins are clustered around MS65 and MS66, this coin's premium condition is remarkable. Many available specimens in this range often exhibit marks on both sides, diminishing their overall appeal. Notably, in the MS68 grade, this coin is a rarity, with a PCGS population of 2/0 and a CAC population of 2/0 as this coin was 1 of them, so should be 1/0 and CACG 1/0 as it will be updated. The surfaces and devices exhibit perfection, adorned with a thick frosting and captivating hues. Predominantly, rich gold and magenta tones shine through on each side, complemented by prominent mint luster in the background. The new owner will quickly see why this Washington Quarter is clearly tied for the finest. We believe this specimen is superior in that the original brilliance still brightly shines through and the toning is complementary to the luster. The most recent CAC sale was $12,030 on 08/19 for an NGC CAC example. With a CAC Price Guide of $13,200 today 5 years later we believe this coin represents strong value priced competitively for the finest.
