This 1950 S/D Washington Quarter stands out as a rare Redbook mint mark type. Graded MS67 by PCGS and endorsed by CAC, this example is encased in a PCGS GEN 4.4S holder, marking the inception of the Secure Shield holder. Impressively preserved, all design elements showcase a well-struck appearance. The surfaces emanate granular mint luster, devoid of any distracting marks. When held, the coin reveals a virtually color-free presence, with frosty luster shimmering at every angle. Distinctly visible is the underlying 'D' Denver mint mark beneath the primary 'S' San Francisco mint mark. Both PCGS and NGC have certified only 10 examples at this grade, and none surpass it in quality. Tied for the finest, a closer inspection will substantiate its claim. Examining comparables reveals notable transactions from $6,750 to $16,450 over the past decade; however, the most recent example was a GC 10/20 for $10,407. This example presents a compelling opportunity for discerning collectors, and can see this being offered by other dealers for close to $10,000.
