This 1944-D Mercury dime displays an unusually vivid and complex color presentation that elevates it well beyond routine Mint State examples, with both sides layered in rich, naturally developed hues over a warm, satiny silver foundation. The obverse reveals smooth, lustrous fields washed in blended tones of deep aqua-blue, violet, and rose-magenta, transitioning seamlessly into amber-orange, copper-red, and sharply defined golden highlights near the lower fields, date, and legends, while Liberty’s portrait remains brightly illuminated with crisp contrast against the surrounding color. The reverse shows a pale silver core beneath turquoise, teal, and cool sea-green around the wreath and ONE DIME, accented by warmer burnt-orange, russet-red, and rose-gold that collect along the upper periphery and within protected recesses.
