Buffalo Nickel
If this cataloguer could choose one coin to keep, it would undoubtedly be this stunning PCGS 1935 Buffalo Nickel. This "monster" piece dazzles with electric toning, featuring vivid iridescent crimsons and blues along the edges, transitioning to soft pastels in the centers on both sides. Beyond its remarkable toning, the luster is extraordinary, with a dynamic cartwheel effect that leaps from the coin’s surfaces accenting the sharply struck devices. Fewer than 0.04% of these coins have survived in such pristine condition, and none finer is currently recognized by CAC. A MS67+ in this date is extremely rare and beyond this there are just eight coins finer at PCGS none with CAC endorsement. A toned MS68 sold for $41,125 12/19 LE.
