The 1921 Saint-Gaudens double eagle is heralded as the premier Key Date Rarity within the entire series. It stands out as a legendary coin, comparable in overall rarity to the 1920-S, but far more challenging to acquire. As a condition rarity, its reputation is well-earned due to its limited surviving population and its historical context, with an estimated 145 pieces in all grades! A PCGS Pop 2 and the lowest grades as well as a CAC Pop 1 and the lowest at that. This coin in other words is the most affordable 1921 $20 CAC that can be obtained. With a total CAC pop of 12 in all grades, this coin's rarity cannot be understated as is no doubt the highlight of Paradime's F.U.N offering.

Double eagles from 1921 were struck late in the year, with nearly all the mintage held in government storage as currency reserves. A limited number were released by the Philadelphia Mint which were placed into museums and into private collections. The vast majority, however, remained in Treasury and Mint vaults until the Gold Recall Act of 1933. Under President Roosevelt’s directive, these coins were melted into gold bars, leaving 145 survivors in all grades.

According to Roger W. Burdette’s research and coin census data, over half of the surviving specimens are in circulated condition, with many Mint State examples originally graded as MS60. Today, those same coins are more frequently found in MS61 or MS62 holders. High-grade examples, particularly in Gem condition or better, are exceedingly rare and highly sought after with MS64 CAC costing over $500,000+ and MS65 CAC over $1,000,000+ This specific piece is a remarkable example completely fresh and will be the centerpiece in any advanced numismatic collection. A rich golden hue dominates the coin with original D.O.G(Dirty Old Gold) crusty look between devices. You will not find another one, and if so will cost several times more.

Paradime Coins is proud to present this magnificent rarity, offering collectors a chance to secure a cornerstone coin in the Saint-Gaudens series
