1914-S $20 MS61 CACG

The 1914 S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle boasts one of the highest mintages among issues from the teens. However, few examples were preserved, with many melted down in 1933. Those that were hoarded often suffered from significant abrasions and bag marks due to storage. This example likely originated from one of those hoards but exceeds the assigned technical grade, as is often observed with a CACG-encased coin, when compared to other TPGs. It showcases a strong strike with excellent luster, featuring a granular texture and an apricot gold coloration. We believe this better date Saint Gaudens to be a solid buy for the next possible bull run in gold. CACG population of 2 with 12 finer.
