The 1914 Indian Head Eagle ($10 gold piece) exhibits exceptional luster and a fully frosty finish, making it one of the standout issues in the series. This example, housed in an old fatty holder, is an extraordinary Choice Mint State piece with frosty yellow brilliance, full mint luster, and sharply defined design elements. This mid-series Philadelphia issue is readily available in grades up to MS63 but becomes scarce at higher grades. CAC-approved examples of this caliber are particularly challenging to find. This coin showcases finely textured, frosty yellow-gold surfaces with minimal marks for its assigned MS64 grade. The bold strike, combined with the near absence of visible flaws, suggests it is perhaps conservatively graded, and it would not be surprising to see it perform well in a regrade. In Gem condition, the 1914 Indian Head Eagle is both scarce and underrated. Certified population figures often reflect multiple resubmissions and we are sure NGC pop has that. The last NGC record was for a spotty 64 CAC at $4,800, whilst a PCGS MS64 CAC for $5,040 11/24 ST which had black spots, both of which pale in comparison to this coin. It is a rare opportunity for the discerning collector seeking a high-quality addition to an advanced collection of pre-1933 U.S. gold coinage. Coins of this caliber are becoming increasingly sought after and are a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of the era. CAC Price Guide $6,250.
