A true condition rarity within the Indian Eagle series, the 1913-S is among the most coveted dates in the entire denomination, struck to a modest mintage of just 66,000 pieces with only an estimated 1,550 survivors across all grades. CAC-approved Mint State examples are exceptionally difficult to locate, with only three certified at the MS62 level and just five finer by CAC. This impressive example is bathed in rich original lemon-gold color with vibrant satin luster that flows uninterrupted across both the obverse and reverse, producing a bright, fresh appearance. The fields exhibit attractive mint frost and are remarkably clean for the grade, with only the expected light contact marks that do little to detract from the outstanding overall eye appeal. Long recognized as one of the premier rarities of the series in Mint State, the 1913-S was historically regarded as the single rarest Indian Eagle in Gem and finer grades, making attractive, original examples like this especially sought after by advanced collectors and Registry Set participants. This exact PCGS certification last realized $14,400 at Heritage Auctions in November 2021 with no CAC sale since then and the numbers need to be updated as a result. This coin is also housed in an older holder Gen 4.0 from 1998-2002. Even non-CAC MS63 PCGS last sold for $20,740 06/26 SB, whilst NGC MS63 for $16,800 07/22 HA. There are NO MS63 CAC, so the next available CAC would have to be MS64 and would cost north of $50,000. In fact in MS65 and MS66 there are each 1 CAC and each would cost mid 6 figures.
