The 1909-D $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle has the the lowest-mintage Saint from the Denver Mint with just 52,500 pieces struck. Represented here by a superb MS64+ PCGS example approved by CAC and ex–Half Dome pedigree, placing it at the doorstep of full Gem quality. Both sides exhibit vibrant, fully original luster with a strong, uninterrupted cartwheel that rolls evenly across the surfaces, immediately confirming the coin’s untouched state. The color is particularly appealing. Surface quality is a clear strength. With an estimated surviving population of approximately 3,283 pieces and only 5 CAC finer, considering there are no MS65 CAC and the next step is is MS66 PCGS CAC which last sold for for $204,000 in 08/25 this is the best price point. No MS64+ PCGS CAC has sold; however, non-CAC examples most recently sold for $21,000 08/24 HA and prior $31,200 08/22 HA. Considering MS64 PCGS CAC last example sold for $18,600 06/24 HA two years ago and PCGS has a Price Guide of $30,000 today, we see this representing excellent value.
