The 1908-D Barber dime, though the first from the Denver Mint is somewhat obtainable in Mint State, but is never obtainable in this level of preservation. In high Mint State grades, it rivals the rarity of the lower-mintage 1907-O which in 67 sell for $15,000+. 1908-D 10C is also scarcer than the 1911-D, 1912-D, and 1914-D. This fully struck specimen has brilliant luster and well-preserved surfaces, making it a standout example. This PCGS OGH-encased dime is one of only 6 examples in the CAC population, with none finer. We confidently consider it among the top 1 or 2 finest and would grade this as such. The coin's original olive-green mottled toning serves as a testament to its untouched, unaltered condition. The strike quality of the 1908-D Barber dime is notably strong, with sharp, well-defined details throughout but its abundant luster carries the coin. In GEM and higher grades, the 1908-D is considered conditionally scarce, making pieces like this one, graded MS67, among the finest examples available to collectors. This superb GEM has all the bells and whistles. No MS67 or MS67+ PCGS CAC has sold in many years. PCGS Price Guide $6,250.
