Single Finest Pop 1/0. 1902-O 10C is the rarest New Orleans Barber Dime. It is even rarer than the key and popular 1895-O 10C. The single finest known 1902-O Barber Dime, this example represents an unparalleled level of preservation. With no finer pieces certified by PCGS or any other major grading service, this Superb Gem stands alone at the top of the population. The coin exhibits uncommonly sharp strike definition for a New Orleans Mint issue, with full detail in the laurel leaves and LIBERTY band. The obverse is cloaked in a radiant mix of apricot, olive-gold, and turquoise, framed by an arc of rose-copper, amber, and deep orange, while the reverse boasts blazing album toning in electric violet, teal-blue, golden-orange, and a brilliant champagne center. The luster is bold , the surfaces untouched and fully original. In high-grade Mint State, the 1902-O is rarer than the 1892-O, 1893-O, 1897-O, and even 1895-O, ranking just behind the elusive 1894-O in Mint State but not absolute rarity. With no auction records in PCGS MS67, this is a once-in-a-generation offering for the Registry Set specialist or connoisseur of elite New Orleans Barber dimes.
