This 1902 Barber Dime, graded PCGS MS66+ and approved by CAC, stands as a Condition Census premium Gem and one of the finest known survivors of this underrated Philadelphia Mint issue - beaten by 1 CAC finer. While often overlooked in favor of earlier key dates, the 1902 is, in fact, one of the scarcest Philly Barber dimes in Mint State, trailing only the 1894, 1895, 1896, and 1903 in overall rarity. The high mintage makes this date seem obtainable but has held to be untrue. Another reason why this date is slightly undervalued. With just seven examples graded MS66+ at PCGS, only four finer, and a single CAC-approved coin ranked higher, this offering represents a remarkably high-end opportunity. A similar example sold for $3,180 08/23 GC. This piece combines technical excellence with rich, album-style visual appeal. The obverse glows with satiny silver luster accented by pinkish-russet, golden-champagne, and faint olive-blue iridescence, while the reverse boasts a vibrant ring of burnished orange, aquamarine, and copper-gold surrounding a frosted silver center.
