From a mintage of 1,795 most of the 1898 5C have survived. These are “common” relatively speaking for a proof liberty nickel. 1898 5C PR 65 cac have sold for around $550. One look at the quality of this gold cac and it is clear it is deeply undergraded. In pr66 cac the last two pcgs cac have sold for $1,410 and $878 but in actuality there exists little price difference between 65,66 non cam or cam. The quality of this in our opinion exceeds both. No blemish, spot or marks are seen or worth mentioning for this delicately gold toned nickel. Coupled with an ogh this has all the bells and whistle for a great value coin under $1,000
