Tied For Finest at PCGS & CAC, this 1895 10C shows exquisite champagne-gold, amber, and lilac hues over impeccably preserved surfaces. The intricate design elements display sharpness, while the mint luster radiates vibrancy on both sides. The 1895 Barber Dime is widely regarded as the key Philadelphia Mint circulation-strike rarity of the series, with a modest mintage of just 690,000 coins—the only Philadelphia issue in the Barber Dime series struck in quantities under one million. It is the single rarest P-Mint example. This date saw limited contemporary saving, as most collectors of the era focused on Proofs, and the issue quietly entered circulation, where the majority were worn down or lost entirely. With a softly toned portrait, the coin is framed by a halo of amber-gold, sea-green, and rose-orange - no doubt this coin has toning having been in a long-term album or envelope storage. Strike sharpness is excellent across the wreath and Liberty’s features. With only 6 coins graded MS67+ by PCGS and none finer, and no CAC-approved examples at a higher level, this piece stands near the pinnacle of what exists for the issue. No recent sale exists but a similar example was offered for $18,500 on the market recently. Whether sought as a low-mintage type coin or a registry-grade rarity, this exceptional 1895 dime delivers in scarcity, originality, and eye appeal—undeniably one of the most desirable condition rarities in the entire Barber dime series.

The Jett Collection.
