1893-S $1 VF20 OH ANACS SOAP BOX
ANACS
This 1893-S Morgan Silver Dollar, certified VF20 by ANACS and housed in an early-generation “Soapbox” holder, represents one of the most pivotal issues in American numismatics. Struck at the San Francisco Mint during the depths of the Panic of 1893, this coin bears the lowest mintage of any regular-issue Morgan Dollar—just 100,000 pieces—making it the undisputed key to the series and a cornerstone for serious Morgan Dollar collectors. The obverse displays soft, even wear consistent with VF20. A captivating blend of natural toning in shades of steel-gray, olive-gold, and faint rose covers the fields, accented by deeper colors clinging to the protected areas within the devices. A gentle dove-gray base tone is framed by concentric rings of iridescent toning in amber, violet, and pale blue, particularly along the rim from 4 to 10 o’clock. The last non-CAC PCGS-certified example brought $6,600 08/25 SB, $6,900 02/25 HA and $6,300 07/25 HA for an NGC non-CAC example. This example has superior color and eye appeal to both. The only relevant comp is a Doily OGH F15 PCGS CAC toned example that sold for $9,786 09/24 HA, which we had the privilege to acquire and sell as well.
