Semi-key date. Panic of 1893 saw a decline in mintage. The 1893-O Barber Dime offered here is an exceptional Superb Gem, certified PCGS MS66+ CAC, and ranks among the finest known survivors of this New Orleans Mint issue. With just 1 CAC example graded finer, this coin sits at the pinnacle of condition rarity for the date. First issue of the New Orleans mint, 1893-O 10C is a standout piece both technically and visually, it features frosty silver luster and vibrant peripheral toning with rich amber-gold, russet, and magenta hues on the obverse, blending into sapphire and steel-blue accents near the legends. The reverse is framed by burnt-orange, lavender, and cobalt-blue toning, with seafoam green and amethyst highlights nestled within the sharply struck wreath. While the mitnage is higher than 1894-O, 1895-O & 1896-O, the 1893-O 10C is actually rarer than even the low mintage 1895, 1896-S, 1897-O, 1902-S, 1903-S, 1913-S & 1915-S. The surfaces are smooth and unabraded, with only the faintest wisps of contact under magnification. This issue is often almost always seen soft and weak on the haircurls, but this example is exceptionally well struck and incredibly lustrous. This coin, last sold for $5,040 01/25 HA offers a rare combination of preservation, color, and eye appeal—an elite opportunity for advanced Barber dime collectors and high-grade type set builders alike.
