The 1892 Barber Dime represents the inaugural issue of Charles E. Barber’s classic design. While 1892 does not have the largest mintage, it was likely the most saved and as such can be found in Mint State relatively easily. This PCGS MS67+ CAC-certified specimen ranks among the finest known survivors, with just 1 certified finer at CAC. By all measurements this coin should be ranked as the Second Finest or Tied For Second Finest. As most Barber Dimes are rare or unknown in Superb Gem, the 1892—especially with its first-year status—presents an ideal registry-quality acquisition. This coin boasts sharp strike fidelity as usually seen for this issue, with Liberty’s hair strands, laurel leaves, and facial features rendered in full, frosty detail. The obverse is enveloped in a dynamic spectrum of champagne-gold, rose-lavender, and cerulean blue, while the reverse displays cool sapphire and teal hues, accented by peach and sea-green overtones that gracefully dance across the wreath and fields. Satiny luster shimmers beneath the toning on both sides, with uniformly original and unabraded surfaces that attest to its elite preservation. The visual presentation is nothing short of superb, with naturally layered, rainbow-like toning that enhances both technical merit and artistic appeal. No MS67+ PCGS CAC has sold since 2018 for a cream, off-white example. The 1 CAC finer in MS68 sold for $43,200 02/25 HA. This coin offers a rare opportunity to acquire a high-end, visually stunning example of one of the most important Barber Dimes ever struck.
