Liberty Seated Quarter
This 1884 Liberty Seated Quarter is a superbly preserved survivor from an unusually low mintage of just 8,000 circulation strikes—of which only an estimated 800 remain across all grades. The coin glows with frosty silver luster framed by rich amber and russet hues. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the constrained post–Bland-Allison Act era—when silver dollar production dominated coining capacity—this piece is far finer than typically encountered Mint State examples from the 1879–1889 period. Only 23 coins have been certified MS66 by PCGS, with a mere 10 earning CAC approval with only 3 finer; the most recent CAC sale realized $4,560 08/24 for a dark example whilst a non-CAC more recently but not dark also sold for $4,560 02/25 ST. Considering no MS67 CAC has sold for almost a decade, for under $5,000 this represents excellent value for a low mintage coin.
