1880 G$1 PR66+ CAM PCGS CAC

 This extravagant Superb Gem is currently one of our most exclusive specimens. One of Paradime Coins' highlights in this offering, this coin is absolutely unique. There are no PCGS or CAC approved specimens of which are PR66 CAM or PR66+ CAM graded. The only example that this specimen can be compared to is a PR66+ DCAM, whilst only 1 usurps this piece which is the PR67 DCAM PCGS. We strongly believe that this specimen is as good as, if not a better example due its CAC endorsement. A CACG POP of just 1, which is this current specimen, even without the CACG there are no CAC certified pieces finer than 64 CAM.

The 1880 date is in itself a low mintage date unknown to most unlike its later counterpart, with only a mere 36 proofs struck and 1600 business strike, an anomaly of a date given its neighbors have higher mintages in both proof and business strikes. The 36 mintage has an astounding survival rate of around 28 survivors in all grades. This massive specimen exhibits an immaculate strike detail with glistening surfaces. Apart from it being the finest proof 1880 Gold Dollar piece in PR, CAM and we dare say close to DCAM, one should consider the mintages of the following dates before and after which gradually grew in production up to thousands in as little as four years thus making this current specimen undervalued. No comps or auction records exist for this rarity, and will likely bring a record price today for the date.
