1879-CC $5 VG08 PCGS CAC

Attractively toned 1879-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle is a desirable Carson City Mint gold issue that remains elusive in most grades, struck from a modest mintage of just 17,281 pieces with an estimated survival of approximately 250 examples today. Coins from this mint have long attracted strong collector demand, and CAC-approved pieces are particularly scarce, especially in lower circulated grades where attractive, original surfaces can be difficult to locate. This CAC-certified VG08 example offers exceptional originality and eye appeal for the grade. The obverse displays well-defined outline detail throughout with exceptional tan-brown gold patina that would be considered on the verge of a toned gold example which makes this an excellent addition. With just a few hairlines in the fields that account for the grade, the coin is all there and some. The PCGS Price Guide lists the issue at $3,000 and CAC at $2,700 for this CAC Pop 2 example. Last CAC VG08 sold 4 years ago which had no where the level of toning and attractive eye appeal that this piece does; however a F12 NGC CAC sold for $3,720 02/22 HA.
