With a modest mintage of just 17,281 pieces and a remarkably low survival estimate of only 250 coins, this 1879-CC $5 Liberty Head Half Eagle is an exceptionally well-preserved and highly attractive example of this elusive Carson City issue. Olive highlights with delicate splashes of rose-peach patina dominate the coin, while the wear is even and the marks are remarkably few, giving the coin a decidedly choice appearance for the grade.
