This Liberty Seated Half Dollar example is a superb Gem boasting outstanding toning with rich and deep hues. Olive green, teal, sea blue, copper brow, yellow, and cream beige decorate the obverse while the reverse exhibit bright sandstone orange, yellow gold, blue fire, and hints of violet. It is certainly one of the more eye appealing pieces with thick luster and some reflectivity seen in the fields. It has only a few marks for the grade with sharply struck devices. As the 1879 proof half dollars are very popular among collectors, this specimen is certainly one which anyone would love for its great eye appeal and quality. Encased in Old Green Holder and deriving from a total mintage of 1,100, it has the CAC approval with 5 other examples and only 10 finer, and in our opinion finer than your typical PR65 by todays grading standard with some strong contrast seen between field and devices.
