1879 $10 MS64 PCGS CAC
1879 $10 MS64 PCGS CAC
Liberty Head Eagle
Exceptionally rare and a condition census in MS64 and finer, 1879 Eagle is sought highly as a pre-1880 Ten Gold issue. Most 1879 $10 have succumbed to commerce and as such are commonly found in AU or Low Unc grade. The present example is one of the finest for the series despite just a MS64 grade, as seen how only 3 are graded finer than the base MS64 of which none are CAC. At MS64 this is a CAC POP 4 with none higher, we believe this number actually 2, as this coin itself we were informed is a duplicate. The current example belonged to the popular SIMPSON-HALL collection where it sold 09/2015 LE ( 7 years ago) for $8,518.70. The current PCGS Price Guide is $8,500 and there has been no other CAC sales in MS64, except for a lower graded CAC MS63 04/2022 Fairmont-Hendricks which brought $5,520. Comparing that example to this, at a grade higher, we think this is a great investment. This offered example has thick satiny luster and surreal color. Orange-gold hues adorn the surface and device with close to no hits or marks seen. A stunning MS-64 and obviously worthy of being in one of the finest $10 Eagles collection and for all intents and purposes one of the most eye-appealing 1879 $10 we have seen.
