The Philadelphia Mint produced just 36,910 business strikes of the Twenty Cent piece in 1875, making this first-year issue considerably rarer than the more common 1875-S. The Twenty Cent denomination, newly introduced to U.S. coinage in 1875, was minted for circulation at Philadelphia only in 1875 and 1876, while proof versions continued through 1878. With a CAC population of only six, this example is recognized for its quality and eye appeal, making it an excellent candidate for a type set or a specialized collection of scarce P-mint Twenty Cent pieces. This piece showcases original toning on both sides. The obverse displays a natural lime-green hue with subtle iridescent highlights visible in hand, while the reverse reveals vibrant colors across the fields and devices, featuring shades of lemon yellow, cobalt blue, and electric red. No CAC toned example has sold. A lower graded less toned AU50 PCGS CAC piece sold $840 04/23 HA.
