Liberty Head Gold Eagles minted in San Francisco consistently garner high demand, yet rarities from 1860's overshadow this date. This coin is rare across all grades, with no mint state survivors recorded. Its overall rarity is comparable to that of the 1866-S motto and the 1868-S to 1873-S dates, yet it sells for a fraction of their price.
