A perfect Proof type coin as only for 2 years, 1873 and 1874 Proof Half Dollars Arrows were struck so as to comply with the global metric scale. The 1874 Arrows mintage record varies according to source to being either 700 or 750, while 1873 50C Arrows to either 550 or 800. Nonetheless, they are of similar rarity today and are pursued actively by type collectors. This specimen has a luxurious reddish-apricot that is encased by steel-blue peripheries which accentuates the golden hues of the surfaces. Additionally, the field is sharply defined and exhibits strong contrast. CAC Pop 2, PCGS Pop 3, no CAC auction record exists with the last sale 12 years ago, whilst a NON-CAC sold 2 years ago for $2,400. Overall the eye appeal of this example is phenomenal, and these do not come attractive.
