For coins issued during the early 1873s, the number 3 of the date 1873 had loops almost “closed” making it look like an 8 resulting in the “Closed 3”. This toned lowball 1873 Half Dollar specimen is a representative of rarity of the date since this type coin is considered to be more challenging to collect compared to the other Arrows type coins. It has an authentic bullet-like toning that can be visually seen in the center on both sides of the coin which gradually transitions from to aqua blue and sapphire blue ending with saffron yellow and crimson red. It has astonishing eye appeal with vivid colors on both sides. With a mintage of 587,000 issues and a survival estimate of only 650 remaining adding up to a survival percentage of just 0.11%. This coin also is a PCGS POP of 1.
