It was only in 1873 that two cent pieces were struck in proofs. It is known that all 600 pieces issued had a Closed 3 as well as this specimen. They were all struck to give out to collectors, while Open 3 proofs were struck again at a later date with no specific information of mintage numbers known. Paradime having handled also another gold CAC 1873 2C Closed 3 PR63 RD PCGS GOLD CAC as well as the finest BN 1873 2C Closed 3 PR66+ BN PCGS CAC, and an attractive 1873 2C Closed PR66 BN PCGS CAC, we’ve seen a few great 1873 2C and this is meets that requirement.

This extraordinary piece possesses a strike that is stunningly acute with little to no hits or marks seen on the surface. Its color has dark sepia to marigold and coppery red brown which truly resonates what a Red Brown coin is. It is the only Gold CAC within the designation and with a POP of 1 and none finer than this piece. The last PR64 RB PCGS CAC sold for $3,600 01/24 HA,whilst PR64 RB CAC Value is $3,750.
