Liberty Seated Quarter
Paradime Coins is proud to present the key Carson City quarter, 1870-CC. Ranking amongst the rarest of Seated Liberty Quarter Dollars, this coin is difficult to find in any grade. Only one Mint State example, the NGC MS64 Eliasberg coin, exists and is a multi-million dollar coin. Initially minted on 20 April 1870, just 8,340 of these quarters were ultimately released. Of those, according to Q. David Bowers "likely somewhere between 45 and 65 examples exist today, each a highly prized rarity no matter what the grade." whilst Rusty Goe accounts for 70 to 85 survivors in all grades in his The Confident Carson City Coin Collector"(2020) book. The example offered here is of mid grade and exhibits gun-metal gray over a hint of blue tint. The rarity is of comparatively of high eye appeal considering nearly all have been damaged or heavily cleaned. An AU55 PCGS non-cac sold for almost $200,000, even in the lowest of grades at VG10 a non-cac PCGS most recently sold for $20,400 08/22 HA, four grades lower. At the current VF25 grade grade, only two recent comps, an NGC example sold for $32,400 09/19 HA, whilst at PCGS for $28,800 2 years ago. With a Price Guide of $40,000 today and strong sales combined with a problem-free example that has not sold before, we are pleased to offer this example for all collectors of Carson City coins, Liberty Seated series and U.S Numismatic rarities.
