The 1870-CC Seated Liberty dollar is among the most recognized Carson City issues, struck in limited quantity and long regarded as a key date within the series. This Liberty Seated Dollar, graded FR02 by PCGS and approved by CAC, represents a compelling low-grade survivor that reflects the heavy circulation typical of coins used in the developing Western economy. The surfaces are extensively worn yet entirely genuine. The fields show an even, medium steel-gray base with darker slate accents and rims that remain sufficiently intact to frame the design. As a CAC-endorsed example, this piece stands out within the low-ball category for its problem-free preservation and authenticity, offering collectors a tangible connection to the early days of the Carson City Mint and the rugged monetary history of the American frontier. Struck from a modest Carson City mintage of just 12,462 pieces, with an estimated 1,000 survivors across all grades, this example is especially notable as a CAC Pop 1 with only 37 total approvals. No recorded public sale exists for FR02 example much less a CAC; however, a P01 PCGS CAC sold 6 years ago for $1,800 03/2020 SB. For this date and issue finding a CAC example in any grade in 4 figures is a rare opportunity. This is also likely the second cheapest CAC example you will be able to acquire.
