1869 3CN PR67 CAM PCGS CAC

High grade Cameo Proof Three Cent Nickels are a different rarity to regular proof 3CN. Only 600 proofs were struck in 1869, one of the lowest for the series with later dates boasting in the thousands. This example showcases deep, beaming mirrors that contrasts sharply with the devices, giving a clear hint at Deep Cameo designation. Last APR was for a non-cac PR67 CAM PCGS sold for $5,170 09/22 LE. A clearly inferior example with a major mark on Liberty in the tiara sold for $5,040 05/22 HA just before or prior in 2017 a discolored example. No superior CAC 1869 3CN PR67 CAM PCGS CAC has sold, which make up the reason why similar rarity dates even with larger mintages and fewer survivors have sold for more. This includes examples such as 1866 3CN PR67 CAM PCGS( non-CAC) with a higher mintage at 725 that sold for $6,000 or a 1867 3CN PR67 CAM PCGS CAC with a higher mintage at 625 that sold for $7,050. This date is clearly undervalued at this point and for its quality and price point we highly recommend this piece.
